Seiko is a company that was established by Kinato Hattori, a young entrepreneur, over 130 years ago in central Tokyo. Initially, the company sold and repaired watches and clocks. Eleven years later, Kinarto bought a factory in Tokyo and produced his first clock in 1982, naming the factory Seikosha. The name Seiko means exquisite, minute, or successful in Japanese, and the name Seikosha or house is a fitting name for what would come in the years ahead.
After producing wall clocks and expanding into pocket watches for twenty-one years, Kinarto introduced Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel. Although the company could only produce 30-50 watches per day at the time, it had already established a reputation for innovation.
Today, after more than 100 years of innovation, Kinato Hattori's company is still committed to achieving perfection, just as its founder always did.

OUR PERSPECTIVE
My thoughts on the Seahorse Automatic:
"I enjoy the sizing and feel of this Seiko Seahorse. Although its 34mm its a relatively long lug-to-lug measurement that allows it to feel modern and checks all the boxes for a sensible dress watch."
